Manos Del Uruguay
The collective Manos del Uruguay is well known for producing beautiful luxury yarns, scarves, blankets and other handmade pieces and for being an early pioneer of Fair Trade. Established in 1968 Manos del Uruguay is this year celebrating its 50th anniversary during which time it has enabled women living in rural areas of Uruguay to gain their economic independence producing beautiful luxury knitwear. The organisation strives to achieve three main objectives.
To generate and develop work opportunities for women living in remote rural areas. To provide not only economic but also social and cultural opportunities for all its members. To value and celebrate the work of skilled artisans.
